Role Description This full-time, on-site Elevator Mechanic role is based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Elevator Mechanic will perform routine and preventive maintenance on elevator systems, including inspections, testing, adjustments, and component replacements to ensure safe and efficient operation. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and documenting work performed in accordance with company procedures and local regulations. The role involves responding to service calls, addressing violations, and supporting modernization projects under the direction of supervisors and project managers. The Elevator Mechanic will collaborate with team members, follow safety protocols, and communicate clearly with building management and tenants as needed.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in elevator maintenance and general elevators knowledge, including inspection, servicing, and system operation.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Candidates should possess maintenance & repair skills across elevator components, ensuring safe, reliable performance and adherence to codes.
- Candidates should possess fundamental electricity knowledge relevant to elevator control systems, wiring, and safety practices.
- Relevant technical training, apprenticeship, or certification as an elevator mechanic or in a related trade is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and building codes; strong attention to detail and safety.
- Physical ability to work in elevator shafts and machine rooms, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces as required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites within the New York City Metropolitan Area.
