Overview
An Elevator Mechanic is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining elevators in commercial and residential buildings. In addition, they will inspect elevator systems prior to and after commissioning, troubleshoot, identify, and resolve mechanical and electrical problems across various different types of elevator and mobility products.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams/schematics, blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals
- Possess strong mechanical problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Perform regular maintenance tasks to keep elevators in optimal condition
- Work with inspectors to test equipment ensuring all installations are completed safely and in accordance with local laws prior to customer handover
- Confirm all installation work is completed in accordance with manufacturer and customer requirements
- Follow all local, national, and company safety procedures while working
- Keep all jobsites neat, clean, and organized
- Provide excellent customer service
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Mechanics may be required to supervise apprentices

Language Skills
- Ability to read and understand English, to write daily reports (end of day, service reports, etc.) and email correspondence is required.
Education, Experience & Training
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of 4 years of experience installing residential elevators, wheelchair lifts and LULA elevators
- Ability to read and understand installation drawings including electrical schematics
- General problem solving knowledge with a focus on industrial mechanics
- Knowledge of ASME A17.1 and A18.1 is a bonus
Certificates, Licenses Or Registrations
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook/Email
Physical Demands
- The employee must be able to lift heavy loads >=50 lbs regularly
Work Environment
- This position works in an environment with moderate noise levels
- This position works both indoors and outdoors in both hot and cold conditions
Travel
- Some overnight travel may be required. Employee must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record - Company provides company vehicle
