Overview
We are looking for a Lead Elevator Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair elevator systems across commercial buildings in the Houston area. This role covers all sides of our work — service and repair, modernization, and new construction — and requires a technician who can diagnose problems independently and see a job through. You will work directly with the owner and take a lead role on projects as the team grows.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of elevator systems, including hydraulic, traction, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Work on modernization projects: controller, drive, door operator, and fixture replacements in occupied buildings.
- Work on new-construction installations: rails, entrances, cab, wiring, and adjustment.
- Read electrical schematics and technical drawings to diagnose issues accurately and work problems to root cause.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, ASME A17.1, and TDLR requirements.
- Communicate with customers professionally — explain what was found and what is needed in plain language.
- Document all service activities in maintenance logs and reports.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of commercial elevator experience, including service/repair, modernization, and new-construction installation.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills — able to diagnose from schematics and fault history, not just replace parts until something works.
- Skilled in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical repair.
- Familiarity with elevator code and inspection requirements.
- Valid driver's license and own basic hand tools; able to lift 50+ lbs and work in pits, on car tops, and in machine rooms.
- Willing to participate in an on-call rotation.
